Help with Heating Scheme
NEED HELP WITH YOUR HEATING COSTS?
ON A MEANS TESTED BENEFIT?
We have 2 options with this Scheme. Householders can only apply for one option not both.
We can only deal with enquiries and applications to the Scheme by email to helpwithheatingscheme@thehubdg.org.uk We are unable to deal with phone enquiries.

Processing applications and arranging subsidy payments to fuel suppliers can take several weeks. The free briquettes and kindling are delivered to households in bulk during late October/early November.
Option 1: HELP WITH ELECTRIC/GAS/OIL/LPG/COAL HEATING
COSTS
This assists householders over 18 years of age, whether living in rented or owner occupied housing, whatever heating type is used e.g gas, electricity, oil, LPG/calor gas, coal; and however this is paid for e.g pre-payment meters, monthly direct debits, quarterly bills or invoices from suppliers etc.
HOW TO APPLY:
Email the following information to helpwithheatingscheme@thehubdg.org.uk
(Do not send original evidence documents – send us photos, snapshots or scans and attach to your email.
- Your name, address, date of birth, NI number, phone number, email address
- Proof of your means tested benefits
- The number of child dependents, adult dependents and number of adults over 75yrs in your household
- A recent energy bill or paid invoice/bill which shows your name, address and customer reference number
- State if you have a smart meter(s) or not
- State whether you rent from a private landlord, rent from a social landlord or own your home
- State if you have a pre-payment meter for electricity, for gas, or for both
- If you know your home energy performance certificate (EPC) rating please let us know
All the information documents above need to be in the same name of the householder/utility account holder who is applying to the Scheme.
Fuel subsidy payments are made direct to the fuel supplier who will credit the applicant householder fuel account. If pre-payment meters are used voucher codes are sent by text to the applicant householder’s mobile phone to use to purchase top-ups.
Option 2: FREE KINDLING AND BRIQUETTES
This assists householders over 18 years of age who use an open fire or multi-fuel stove as their main form of heating. This option provides free kindling and briquettes to use during the winter months.

- Your name, address, date of birth, NI number, phone number, email address
- Number of people in your household
- Number of people over 60yrs in your household
- Proof of your means tested benefits
- State whether you rent from a private landlord, rent from a social landlord or own your home
